Move Over Thanksgiving It's Time For Christmas!!

For the last few weeks I've been wanting to make a Christmas banner/bunting of some sort.
I didn't want to do the typical Merry Christmas and I wanted it to be colorful.
After the debacle of Aubrey announcing that the baby in the manger in our nativity scene was baby Moses (mom fail!) I figured I had some work to do ;)

Thus the "Happy Birthday Jesus" bunting was created!
I just love how it turned out and it was so easy to make.

I didn't sew a thing... just me, some felt fabric and my trusty glue gun gettin' er done.

I even hand drew the letters (I'm definitely NOT known for my neat printing OR my drawing ability) and the fact that they turned out half decent is a miracle in and of itself!

The lighting in our living room is seriously lacking, so forgive the crummy pictures.

I'm totally loving the fact that I can use it for any birthday! Gotta love when things can be multi purpose... makes the Mennonite in me proud :)

Ummm So I Might Be Addicted....

Okay, so I'm really into the hoop art.
I can't seem to get enough!

I just love that I can sit in the couch and be lazy AND craft at the same time!
Perfect combo for me because this baby in my belly is starting to really beat me up and my lower back is gonzo by around 5pm in a day. Can barely move, fun :)
I would like to reiterate that I still LOVE being pregnant! Seriously, bring on the back pain because it's all part of the miracle...cheesy you say? Well, get over it ;)

I've been loving all things 'birdcage' all over the blog-world.
It's my first embroidery project and I'm pleased to say that I did this without a pattern... yes, I know it's basically a bunch of straight lines... pretend it's a big deal okay?! Thanks.

I remember my cousin had sent me this link, so I dug it up and went from there (thanks Marlene!)....

It took me forever to decide on the ribbon, fabric, colors, etc. I can't make a decision for the life of me.
You'd think this was a life altering choice I had to make, I think we chose our car faster than I chose the materials for this thing.

But, it was worth it! I LOVE how it turned out!

Finally Finished....

Well, to be honest, I've been finished this for over a week, but forgot to post it. Oops.
Remember how I was working on this....
when the great side-tracker Aubrey got me to help her make this?.....

Well, I finally finished my wall hanging thingy....

I got the idea from Cluck Cluck Sew and I added my own little twist to it.
I desperately needed/need stuff for the walls in our master bedroom, they're bare and boring.
Not good.

So since Zach and I are Fall buffs and we both love trees, this seemed like the perfect idea to hang in a random frame I had from a few years back.
I love me a good garage sale find!

I wanted to stitch our initials on the trunk (Amy had done this on a tree thingy she made for someone's wedding present), but my embroidery skills are seriously lacking. So, no initials....maybe some day in the future.
And this is my sad sad room....
But it's not quite so sad anymore, a little sale Anthro bedding(from my birthday 3 years ago) and some stitched tree art and I'm on my way.
Look at me go ;)

A Little Bit of Progress....

And by little, I mean little. I have my quilt all laid out in the spots I want, but I keep going in and changing things. So I decided to let it sit for a while longer, let it percolate a bit. And no, it's not because I'm not in the mood to sew it. Ok, maybe I'm not in the mood to sew it. BUT in my defence, it's really hot up in our office and when I get super hot, I feel sick... not a good thing when you live in Georgia. Because it's hot here....really hot here. Figured I'd remind you, just in case you forgot because I sure haven't ;)
I'm really loving how offensively bright these fabrics are though, they make me smile....even if I still feel nauseous under that smile. Ahhh the joys of pregnancy. My goal is to get it done before the baby comes...I figure a deadline of March is something I can handle, but at the pace I'm going?? Not gonna happen. I'm just praying that all this nausea stops at 12 weeks, but that's this Monday, so I'm not going to hold my breath!
In other news, I found the latest home of "the mask" the other day. I give Zach some serious bonus points for creativity on this one, it's just clever! Have I ever mentioned I love this guy?? Because I do. (that was for you Marcy)

Band Aids and Future Projects....

Now that we have a back yard, we are going through some serious amounts of band aids. Aubrey is a little on the clumsy side and that mixed with concrete in the back yard = trouble
She was so excited when I brought home these! Pretty sure the first day she got "hurt" about 5 times....verrrry convenient ;)
But who cares because look at her cute little bandaged up feet!
Ok moving on, I am so pumped for this project I have on deck! Now, you would've never have guessed that I was judging by the fact that this fabric has been sitting on my sewing desk for the last two weeks....but I am! Really! I just, you know, MOVED this last month and this was not my first priority. I figured that I'd get Aubrey's room out of boxes before I start a willy nilly(yes, willy nilly) project. At least, that's what I tell my procrastinating self.
Ahhhh Sugar Pop by Liz Scott! In a delicious charm pack and layer cake! Oh yeah, these babies are going to become a quilt. Not just any quilt, my FIRST quilt!
Yay me! I got the idea from Amy, she had a quilt made from a Moda charm pack and layer cake in her living room and she kept talking about how easy it was to make and that it was the first one she ever made(is that right Amy? Am I remembering that correctly?!). So I thought, hey, that sounds like the perfect first quilt for me! So, here it is...ready for me to get my butt in gear and start! Wish me luck....

Aubrey's Room: The Never Ending Craft Session....

So I'm really getting my craft on for Aubrey's room. I'm trying to use stuff I already have around my sewing room so we can save on $$ :) Yay me, right?!
Some hoop art was next on deck. I'm going with a color scheme of, well, color in her room. Like I said before, I don't want to be tied down by a "scheme", I'm rebellious like that.
The two brighter patterned hoops I just left as is, but I flexed my glue gunning muscles on the purple one. Didn't want it to be bland, nope can't have that.
Nothing some buttons and lace can't fix!
I'm loving how they turned out! Best part was Aubrey come up while I was making them and when I told her they were for her room she said, "Wow Mama! I LOVE them....what are they?!?". Ah 3 year olds, no artistic vision.
Thought I'd throw in this next shot.....
Random I know, but I have this mask that my brother got me when he travelled to Venice and to say Zach hates it, is an understatement! For some reason it FREAKS him out and of course I wear it and sneak up on him and prop it in random places for him to find at some random time. I'm a good wife and that's what good wives do; piss off their husbands. Anyway, after one particular time of me hiding it somewhere on his desk, he got me back! Oh man, it made me smile for the rest of the day. I'm convinced that this is why our marriage is going to make it ;)

Procrastination Project #687

So....This is one of the things I made when I really should have been packing :) That seems the be the norm here these days.

This Moda toweling was from my "emotional" fabric purchase the other day. I'm loving it SO much and making a table runner with it was the perfect way to use it and not have to cut it, GENIUS!
A little close up for you, because isn't it fun to see it from 15 different angles?! All I really did was add the polka dot ruffle I made and it was perfect!
Well to me anyway.
I'm liking that I some how still got my all time favorite, the ruffle, in this project annnnd I mixed it up still. How, you ask? A side ruffle...annnnd it's not the shabby frayed edge kind. I know, I'm living on the edge.

Packing update--I'm actually getting some done! We are about 3 weeks away from our move and I'm finally getting some motivation to get things done. Our house officially looks like a bomb went off and I have NO clue how I'm going to go through another 3 weeks of this.... 3 weeks..... oh man.
