A Brick Wall and Some Spontaneity...

Last weekend, back in Greenville, SC, I saw this random brick wall and I immediately grabbed my camera (and Aubrey) and wandered over.
I love me a good ol' broken down brink wall (seems most people into photography do).

Lucky for me, Zach was retrieving our car from one parking spot to switch to one close to this wall and Aubrey and I were waiting for him, giving me ample time with my little model!

Now, photographing people is not really my thing. I usually like to work with things that don't move.... ie. NOT a 3 year old kid who thinks it's hilarious to make every funny face in the world while running around like a maniac.
But, I had a blast this day!

Aubrey was being so funny and cute I couldn't get enough....

...as you can tell by the volume of pictures that are present in this post.
Just another example of my inability to narrow down pictures.

I'm loving that she's going through her I'm-about-to-hit-a-growth-spurt-so-I'm-getting-a-little-pudgy-in-the-cheek-region-in-preparation-for-it phase!

Makes me think of the days of old when she practically weighed the same as she does now....at 11 months!

Look at her!

Stupid sun was in the total wrong position, making her squint like crazy, but I don't care.
When you have a chance for a little photo shoot in front of a brick wall while your husband gets the car, you take it!

um...not sure about this pose....there are always a few of these head scratching poses with this kid.

Don't you just want to eat her in her skinny jeans?!?

Ah, love a spontaneous brick wall photo shoot :)

"And On That Drive We Saw A...."

In my last post I talked about our drive through Georgia and South Carolina and that particular drive ended up leading us to Greenville, SC.

It's about two hours from our place and it was recommended to us by one of Zach's co-workers.
Zach's dad was in town for a few days and we wanted to show him some surrounding areas.

We were originally going to head out to Asheville NC, but when we got here, well, we decided to hang out here instead...I'm assuming you can understand why....

To be honest, I forget the name of the historic park we went to, but it was right smack-dab in the middle of town and it was FABULOUS!

We had driven in search of Fall (also known as head-t'wards-the-North Carolina-mountains) and we found smidgens of it here...

It seriously was one of the cutest towns/parks I've been to...and that's saying something. I've been to a lot of amazing places in this here the U S of A.

And Aubrey, well, she was Aubrey...

She had a blast climbing on random stone walls, riding her new bike (from Grandpa) and exploring!

We even got a decent family shot! Yay!

I actually felt like I was in England, to be honest.... the trees, the scenery, the broken down Textile Mill and it's random remaining walls....heavenly!

I highly recommend Greenville....seriously....GO.

It was such a fabulous Fall day (although from most of these pictures you'd think it was summer) and we had a great time just wandering around.

I have a thing for random old signs on the sides of buildings...

And this one was awesome....as was our day :)

Enjoying The Ride

I love taking random shots out of my car window when we're off on a drive to a new place.

And let me tell ya, Georgia and South Carolina have some sweet scenery...

So much random awesomeness happening all over....

But the broken-down barns and houses have to be my favorite....

If I was on this trip with Amy and not Zach, I'm pretty sure we would have stopped the car about a bajillion times and never actually arrived at our destination.

But alas, I was with Zach and there was no stopping of the car...

except for Aubrey to have a random roadside pee break.
And then we saw this place....

"one of these things just doesn't belong"....
And this sign had me laughing pretty hard!
I guess I am now living in the South....

And just when you don't think it could get any more Southern....

I'm proven wrong.

Scenes From Savannah...

Well, the long weekend with Zach really was everything I had dreamed it would be (that's for you Astrid!)! We made the most of his whole time off, we didn't waste a minute!

Saturday was spent at home relaxing. Zach and Aubrey went in the pool for hours, and by hours I mean 5! Seriously, they have waaaay too much fun in that thing. I was able to go out by myself for a couple of hours and did a few errands/returns/crafty shopping. Any alone time is coveted! We grilled some steaks for dinner and it was just a fabulous day.

Sunday we tried a new church that was recommended to us by one of Zach's coworkers and we LOVED it! I'm so glad we tried it, it's totally not something we would have gone for on our own. It's one of those mega baptist churches that I've been so intimidated by, but they did such a fabulous job of making it feel close knit and the worship and preaching was amazing! And don't get me started on the Sunday School program! Aubrey was in her glory!

Right after church we headed into Savannah. Only Zach and I would make an afternoon trip with a 2 and a half hour drive one way! We had such an amazing time and it's an out of control gorgeous city!

My only complaint was that it was super cloudy out. Now, it was fabulous for the comfort/sweat factor, but the pictures took a bit of a beating. It was the super dark kind of cloudy, not good for the pictures(my skillz just aren't there).

We were there for a total of 5 hours and we made the most of it, walking around to see all we could.
I love love love Savannah and I can't wait to go back...soon!

Monday was a get-stuff-done-around-the-house kinda day. We finally tidied/cleaned out the garage(and by we, I mean Zach) and we can actually park our car in it! Yay!! We'd been putting it off for quite some time and it felt so good to get 'er done.

So that was my weekend in a nutshell. A pretty great nutshell if you ask me :)
