Kitty's Ridin' in Style....

My child is a pack rat....wonder where she got that from ;)

When we go on her (twice)daily trike ride, she pesters me to bring along every personal belonging she has.... meaning I get to carry all the random stuff she cons me into bringing. I decided it was time to get her a basket, but didn't want to pay full price and after a few days straight of carrying Kitty, I didn't want to wait to find one at a garage sale. So, I got creative and made a little lined "basket" of sorts to tie to her handle bars.

I felt pretty proud, I relinquished control and let her pick her fabrics...I know, I'm amazing.

I added interfacing to the outer layer to give it a little more stability.

I then sewed the lining, aka striped fabric, and tucked 'er in(inside out so the pretty pattern would show).

I had these mini yellow pom-poms and decided to add them to the top, so I tucked them in between the two fabrics.

Cut some handy-dandy ribbons to tie the basket to the handle bars(I used fray-check on the ends so they wouldn't unravel).

And sewed 'er up! Simple as that!

I think it looks quite purdy, thankyouverymuch.

And boy was it a hit! She was SO excited to bring Kitty along for the ride and it was the perfect place for me to put my house keys:)

It looks quite snazzy on her $2 garage sale trike!

This particular time we went riding for an extra long time.... I saw my fabulous(read IDIOT) landlord puttering around in the front yard---so another lap around the block it was! Aubrey needed a little rest along the way....

All-in-all it was an easy, cute project and I'm pretty sure I never saw Aubrey so happy!

Jackpot.

That would have been something for Cobs. He would probably still want something like that for his long bike journeys ;) Nice one, Jen!

I love this! You are so crafty and creative. Nice job letting her pick the fabrics.... I seriously know how hard that is.
Nice tutorial as well.

Wow- that was me as a kid :)

That is a fun idea! I remember getting a hand-me-down bike with something similar & thought it was the best!
