Totes Magotes...

I finally got some sewing done yesterday which, to be honest, is kinda funny because yesterday was one of those days that pregnancy kicks your butt. But hey, I'll take what I can get. I've been wanting to make Aubrey a library tote since, well, she got her very first library card a few weeks ago :)

She's so cute when we're there, just wandering and grabbing books, not really looking at them and just shoving them in the bag!
Random Story--- on our first visit to the library, Aubrey was doing her thing and picking books. We did a quick once over and got rid of a few we didn't like/agree with and Zach saw one that said, "getting ready for the new baby" and he's like, "oh that should be good" and I agreed.....well, little did we know, but it was some crazy random book about kids feeling left out because of the new baby and addressing why they don't like their baby brother/sister(I really don't want to fill her head with those thoughts because she hasn't uttered a peep about it yet).
But the worst part?? It explained (in depth!) the birds and the bees!....with pictures(of animals oddly enough)?!? WHHHATT? It was totally geared towards Aubrey's age too, I want to know who tells their child at 3 ALL the ins and outs of procreation?!? Seriously??

Anyway, back to the tote... I wanted it to give it a little somethin' somethin', so I added her initial and a few cute buttons to the front pocket(which I wish wasn't that purple color, but hey, whatcha gonna do now).

And there's a cute little pocket inside for her own personal library card :)

I used some Amy Butler fabric from her Love line and I wish I had bought more than just a yard of this when it was on sale at the local fabric store back in NJ. I absolutely love (haha, get it??) this fabric!

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, but Aubrey's even happier! And that's what matters most.

Scenes From Savannah...

Well, the long weekend with Zach really was everything I had dreamed it would be (that's for you Astrid!)! We made the most of his whole time off, we didn't waste a minute!

Saturday was spent at home relaxing. Zach and Aubrey went in the pool for hours, and by hours I mean 5! Seriously, they have waaaay too much fun in that thing. I was able to go out by myself for a couple of hours and did a few errands/returns/crafty shopping. Any alone time is coveted! We grilled some steaks for dinner and it was just a fabulous day.

Sunday we tried a new church that was recommended to us by one of Zach's coworkers and we LOVED it! I'm so glad we tried it, it's totally not something we would have gone for on our own. It's one of those mega baptist churches that I've been so intimidated by, but they did such a fabulous job of making it feel close knit and the worship and preaching was amazing! And don't get me started on the Sunday School program! Aubrey was in her glory!

Right after church we headed into Savannah. Only Zach and I would make an afternoon trip with a 2 and a half hour drive one way! We had such an amazing time and it's an out of control gorgeous city!

My only complaint was that it was super cloudy out. Now, it was fabulous for the comfort/sweat factor, but the pictures took a bit of a beating. It was the super dark kind of cloudy, not good for the pictures(my skillz just aren't there).

We were there for a total of 5 hours and we made the most of it, walking around to see all we could.
I love love love Savannah and I can't wait to go back...soon!

Monday was a get-stuff-done-around-the-house kinda day. We finally tidied/cleaned out the garage(and by we, I mean Zach) and we can actually park our car in it! Yay!! We'd been putting it off for quite some time and it felt so good to get 'er done.

So that was my weekend in a nutshell. A pretty great nutshell if you ask me :)

High On Life....

We were wishing it would happen and it did....

Zach has the long weekend OFF!!! Seriously, 3 whole days off!! What to do, what to do?!? I think we should fly somewhere...seriously, it's that rare!

I'm thinking a trip to Atlanta for the day is in order...
We have lived here almost 3 months and have yet to visit...we'll see.
No matter what happens, it'll be amazing!
Thank you Lord! We needed this!

My Day...

Well, this day did not go as planned. Don't get me wrong, we were stuck at home(as usual), but today had an unwanted spin on it.
Aubrey woke up at 6 AM and proceeded to start throwing up. Non stop. Seriously.
Now if there are 2 things you need to know about me it's that I LOVE my sleep in the mornings and I just don't do vomit. blech.
And vomiting close to me while I'm pregnant and close to it myself nearly all day?!?! Let's just say I thought that I'd be joining her a few times. It was touch and go for the first few times. Fun.
I'm happy to report that she's on the mend and that after over a dozen "fun moments" this morning she stopped throwing up. Yay!
I still have no clue why she got sick, no fever or anything. Weird.
All that mixed with her and I having a joint nap today, that started at 2:30 and went until almost 6 PM?? I'm guessing it's going to be a messed up night. Wish me luck....

A Little Bit Of This And That....

*so I did a little redecorating on the ol' blog today. Am I the only one who gets bored with the way their blog looks? Their blog title? I could change it every day if I wasn't so lazy.

*We'll see how long this one lasts.

*I was looking back at some of my pictures from England....

*Ummm not helping my longing to go back.

*I'm just past 12 weeks now(at least I think that's how far along I am...going to head to the doctor's when I'm back in good ol' Canada in a few weeks and get that all figured out).

*I had about 2 whole days where I didn't feel like complete and utter crap. Annnnnd I'm back to feeling sick today.

*good news? I got a vacuum in today during my 1/2 hour feeling OK, hurray!

*bad news? I feel complete shame at the amount of crap in my Dyson.

*all I want to eat is this.....

*and it's all the way in Grenada....how do I get around that??

*where did this little girl go???

*said little girl has been going through a no-nap phase. No fun for me.

*Yesterday and today she's made up for lost time with 3 hour super naps. Yay for me!

Back In The Saddle....

The crafty saddle that is. I felt half decent yesterday (hurray!!) so instead of doing the right thing, cleaning, I got my craft on. It felt so good to do something creative again.
Aubrey has been asking for a headband for a while, something I find quite hilarious because she absolutely hates having things in her hair. But I thought, what the hey, might as well make her one and see if she actually keeps it in.
Well she actually does and has not taken the head band off but to sleep since I made it, victory!
I used elastic lace for the headband part and made a simple yo-yo flower with a fabric covered button to hide the seem I had sewn. Aubrey picked the fabric(or fagric as she calls it) and loved that I involved her! The elastic lace makes it super comfortable to wear, I'm assuming that's why she actually keeps it on:)
As usual the photo shoot got a little crazy....
I'm just thankful that she was cooperative this time, better than her usual hide-my-head-behind-something-until-I-know-the-camera's-put-away. I'll take it!
{side note, I'm pretty sure the owner of this house planted weeds instead of grass, because there is nothing but weeds in the back yard. Just turn a blind eye 'mkay? Or even better yet, pretend they are lovely flowers that I lovingly planted...thanks}
ummm yeah. She's my daughter through and through :)
And this morning she thought she was extra cool and put the headband on herself. She wont let me do it, so this is going to be her cool look for the day. Awesome.
The rats-nest, I mean back view.
And to further prove that my child's a genius (no, I'm not biased at all)....
She's working on her letters....by herself. She's all self motivated 'n stuff, so not from me--that would be Zach. But seriously, she's writing her name already. She gets the letters all out of order when she does it on her own, but when she has reference point to work from? She nails it!

I'm going to be linking up here....

Dreaming....

Aside from family and friends, the thing that I CAN NOT stop thinking about in relation to our upcoming Canada trip, is the food. I'm so excited for a few things, and now I will give you a list...in no particular order.
1. Wings from Earls. Thai wings to be exact...in my book, there are no other kind. Period. The end.
2. the "#1 without the beef fried rice" (as I like to call it) from Dragon Fort. Now this place is kind of a dive, but I can't help myself. It's just the best Chinese I've ever had (probably has something to do with it being a childhood memory, family lunches there after church were a rare treat! I'm assuming because it was/is so cheap and my parents weren't exactly flush with cash with 5 kids and one income. No matter what the reason, I thank them for introducing me!). mmmmmm sweet and sour pork 'n chow main! Soooo good. And at $5 for a GIANT plate of food?? SOLD.
3. Sushi. It is the west coast people and West Coast=best. sushi. ever. Now I'm not hard core so I don't eat the raw stuff, but Zach does so I'm cool by association, 'mkay? I'm a California roll and dynamite roll kinda gal....oh and chicken teriyaki! mmmm ok, now I'm drooling. I'm partial to Akasaka or Junction Sushi (in Mission BC), just so you know.
4. Quiznos.....now I know they have them in the States, but I have yet to have an Original Turkey like I've had at the Mt.Lehman Rd Quiznos in Abbotsford, so I must go and fill my face.
5. White Spot. For breakfast...oh who am I kidding?! Any time of day! Oh man, the triple O sauce?!? Are you kidding me?? Simply the best.
6. Oh and slushes!! I LOVE slushes and they have the best ones at a random Shell gas station in my home town!
I. Can't. Wait.
Now I just have to figure out how I'm going to fund this out-of-control-pregnant-woman feasting....sucks being poor.
